One of Lawrie's later commissions in life was for murals on buildings at Boys Town, Nebraska, (now known as Boys and Girls Town). These works were completed in 1949.
They illustrate wholesome activites for the boys. The Music Builidng mural depicts the rescue of a waif and transition into adulthood as a productive citizen.
This work demonstrates a marked change in Lawrie's style, away from Art Deco of the previous decade, into a more realistic application.
