TheAdmission of Nebraska as a State in the Union (1867 ), by Lee Lawrie, North Facade.

Nebraska is depicted as a pioneer woman with a buffalo hide across her shoulder, and in her left arm is a scepter of corn. She receives the state's star from Columbia, capped in a Phrygian or Liberty cap upon a throne embellished with an eagle, holding the papers of statehood. Also pictured are soldiers of the North and South, returning to the new state.

We also see men around the plow, representing agriculture and an anvil to represent industry.

Behind them is the dawn. Nebraska joined the U.S. in 1867.
